President Obama is still trying to figure out how best to respond to General McChrystal's request for 40,000 more troops in Afghanistan. Adding more troops seems like a strange way to wind down an unpopular war to me.
Now, according to this NY Times article, the U.S. Ambassador, a former military commander there, has warned against sending more troops. Ambassador Eikenberry cites the erratic behavior and corruption of Karzai's government as his reasons.
